Involute Deepening

‘Involute Deepening’ is a six-session yoga course for women, designed to follow on from ‘Involute Fundamentals‘ in order to take you deeper into an embodied understanding of your pelvic bowl area and, through this, a deeper, more authentic felt sense of your own inner strength and power as a woman. We look in detail at the incredible postural muscles of the pelvic floor and how these are connected to our grounding anchors, our feet, through fascia. We practise various pelvic floor toning exercises and look at how we can support pelvic floor health as women. We explore the intricate beauty of our reproductive organs and, gradually, we spiral in towards exploring the seat of Mula Bandha (the root lock) in women, the cervix, and the mysterious powers of creation and manifestation held within the womb-space. Underlying the whole course will be a continuation of the focus on centering and grounding from Involute Fundamentals, but this time we will also start to gently approach the subject of trauma held within this area of body, often due to distorted beliefs around sexuality that we have absorbed inter-generationally as well as in our lived experience, for example in our families, societies, religions and cultures. We begin to ever so gently melt the held tension within us through our focused awareness and intention. Alongside the more anatomical aspect of this foundational course, we will also explore female-centric supportive yoga practices such as womb-honouring sequences, gentle breathwork, yoga nidra, kriyas (especially uddiyana bandha and its modern counterpart, hypopressives), mudras, mantras and yin/restorative postures.

The course will be a small, closed group, to create a safe container that we can relax and expand into, allowing us to explore and gently lean into our edges of trust and intimacy. We will begin each session with a ‘sharing spiral’, which can be a profound and very healing space in which each person in the circle has the opportunity to share whatever is present within them, and we go round the circle as many times as we need until everyone is complete (with an awareness of time of course, so we still have time for the yoga!). When we are not speaking, we practise holding and witnessing each person’s sharing, through active listening and non-judgemental embodied presence.

To join this course it is a pre-requisite that you have completed my foundational course for this work, Involute Fundamentals (or, in the 2023 version, simply called Involute). If you really want to join this course but it’s not possible to join Involute Fundamentals with me live this year, it might be possible to complete the course from recorded videos from a previous course, However, this will depend on your level of familiarity with this area of the body/yoga, so please get in touch for a chat to see if this could work for you.

The online course includes six two hour in-person sessions. In between the immersive sessions you will be given written notes of all the content that we cover, home practice suggestions, journalling prompts and bonus guided practice videos to do at home, plus ongoing support from me throughout the course.

For those who have already completed my Involute Fundamentals course (2024/2025) or online Involute course (2023), this course represents a more in-depth look at Part 2, Pelvic Floor Awareness, with new content and insights that I have embodied myself in the intervening time. Therefore I feel, as well as being an opportunity to reconnect to this topic, it will also provide you with more in-depth experiential understanding.

Involute Deepening

Dates: April 7, 14, 16, 21, 28, May 5 2026 online, 7-9pm, offered via Zoom platform.
Includes the following content and more:

Week 1 – Introduction to Involute Deepening; recap of basic principles of Involute Fundamentals (grounding, centering, ‘yin’ versus ‘yang’ muscles. Introducing the themes of Involute Deepening – building safety, internal strength, integrity & resilience, trust and creating healthy self-honouring boundaries. Overview of pelvic floor anatomy and functions.

Week 2 – Fascia and the wisdom of interconnecivity. Biotensegrity model of the body. Exploring the connection between the pelvic floor diaphragm and the three other internal diaphragms (foot, respiratory and throat) in more detail through the Deep Front Line; hypopressives and uddiyana bandha for pelvic floor health and deep core toning.

Week 3 – Releasing & strengthening the pelvic floor muscles. Postural alignment and pelvic floor physiology. Hypopressives continued & Pelvic Floor Exercises. Inversions for pelvic floor release.

Week 4 – Revisiting the psoas muscle – the pelvic bowl as a container for trauma; psoas activation to support trauma release; womb-heart energy line (hridaya nadi) as a necessary resource for trauma work. Hypopressives continued. Breath as essential ally for trauma work.

Week 5 – Reproductive organ anatomy; understanding of cyclical energy and how this is represented in menstruation. Mula bandha and connection to the ‘temple path-shower’, the clitoris, the ‘temple pathway’, the vaginal passage and the ‘temple gatekeeper’, the cervix muscle. Vagus nerve and connection to cervix in women.

Week 6 – Connection to the mysteries of the wombspace; deepening the connection between womb and heart as our sacred responsibility; connection between voice/throat chakra and pelvic bowl/sacral chakra; recapitulation of the course.

This course leans more towards a yin rather than yang style of practice, as it is designed to help us reconnect to and allow the gifts of our feminine energy to be acknowledged, understood and allowed to blossom. This course is designed for women, due to our different anatomy and particular experiences (for example menstrual cycle, female orgasm, childbirth, miscarriage, abortion, menopause), especially at this potent time on the planet, where a welcoming back of feminine energy is required for balance. It is a big question of mine: ‘What is it to be an empowered woman at this time?‘, and I will be encouraging us all to hold this as an ongoing enquiry throughout the course. That said, one of the key themes throughout the course is finding the complementary balance between our personal unique blend of yin and yang energies. When we polarise into the feminine mysteries, the masculine energy within us must rise too, in order to support our deep dive into what can sometimes feel dark, chaotic and confusing, and provide a safe way back to the light and to order, structure and the deep peace of embodied understanding that can follow. Therefore, we will be acknowledging, exploring and honouring the complementary nature of the masculine energy within us and around us too.

I bring to this course over twenty years experience of being a dedicated student and teacher of yoga, with more recent specialism in women’s yoga and pelvic floor health, as well as being a more recent student (five to ten years) of other ancient modalities of healing and transformation, including shamanic practices (especially within the Celtic and Toltec traditions) and Chinese energy systems such as Tai Chi, Chi Gong and Taoist practices. This course represents my passion and life-work and I draw upon my own embodied experience to bring to you a carefully crafted journey of involution, gently beginning our journey of spiralling in towards the deepest, most mysterious layers of our being. The course content will be primarily but not exclusively drawn from the huge body of wisdom held within the ancient yet ever-evolving yoga tradition.
